BEIJING, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker on Thursday exchanged congratulatory messages to mark the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Noting that China and Austria enjoy strong economic complementarity and broad converging interests, Li said cooperation in areas such as the green transition and digital economy holds great potential.
Li said that he is willing to maintain close communication with Stocker, strengthen the alignment of the two countries' development strategies, expand and upgrade bilateral cooperation, and promote new achievements in the China-Austria friendly strategic partnership.
For his part, Stocker said China is a valued and respected partner of Austria and the world, expressing hope for the sustained and steady development of Austria-China relations and the deepening of friendship between the two peoples.
Also on Thursday, China's top legislator Zhao Leji, chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, exchanged congratulations with their Austrian counterparts on this occasion.
