Friday, April 24, will bring typical spring weather across Bulgaria, with sunshine, variable clouds and noticeable wind, according to the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH). The day is expected to begin with changing cloud cover, but before noon skies will clear in many parts of the country, leading to longer sunny periods and a more pleasant afternoon.
Winds will remain moderate from the west-northwest, while in the Danube Plain and Eastern Bulgaria they will temporarily become strong, creating a cooler feeling despite the seasonal temperatures. Minimum temperatures will range between 4C and 9C, while daytime highs will reach between 16C and 21C. In Sofia, morning temperatures are expected to be around 6C, rising to approximately 17C later in the day. Atmospheric pressure will increase and remain above the average for April.
Forecasters describe the day as a classic transition-season pattern, with more sunshine but still unstable spring dynamics. ?Friday will be a typical spring day? ? warmer and brighter, but with enough wind to remind people that the season is still changing.
In the mountains, conditions will be less comfortable, with alternating sun and clouds accompanied by strong winds and lower temperatures. At 1,200 meters, temperatures will reach around 11C, while at 2,000 meters they will stay near 4C, making higher elevations feel significantly colder.
Along the Black Sea coast, cloud cover will also gradually decrease, giving way to mostly sunny weather. Temperatures there will range from 14C to 17C, with moderate to temporarily strong winds. Sea water temperatures remain relatively low, between 12C and 13C, while wave conditions are expected to stay around 2 to 3 on the Beaufort scale.
Looking ahead to the weekend, conditions are expected to remain largely sunny with only temporary increases in cloudiness and a slight chance of isolated rainfall. Temperatures will continue to rise, with Sunday expected to bring values close to 25C. By the end of the day, however, winds are likely to strengthen again as a brief wave of colder air moves into the country.
