BRATISLAVA, May 14 (Xinhua) -- Bratislava airport in Slovakia recorded a profit last year for the first time since 2008, local media reported Wednesday.

According to the News Agency of the Slovak Republic, the airport recorded a profit of nearly 2.5 million euros (2.79 million U.S. dollars) in 2024.

The airport had posted losses for several years, largely due to high operating costs and interest payments.

In 2024, the airport handled more than 1.9 million passengers, marking a 7 percent increase compared to 2023. The number of aircraft take-offs and landings also rose by 6 percent year-on-year, reaching over 28,000 operations.
