BERLIN, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Austrian international midfielder Konrad Laimer has joined the German giants on a free transfer from RB Leipzig after putting pen to paper on a four-year deal, FC Bayern Munich announced on Friday.
Laimer was a desired player from former Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann and will stay now with the Bavarians after signing until June 2027.
"A dream comes true for me," Laimer told the official Bayern homepage. "FC Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world. I will give everything for the club and the supporters. FC Bayern always set high goals, just like me. I am in the right place here. I only exist with 100 percent, and I will bring that into every training session from day 1. I can barely wait for it."
The 26-year-old Bayern newcomer missed large parts of the first half of the 2022-2023 campaign due to an injury but returned with strong performance after the winter break. In his five and a half years at Leipzig, he provided 19 assists and 15 goals in overall 190 competitive appearances. With Leipzig he also won the German Cup back-to-back.
"He joins us as the new and old German Cup winner and hopefully we will be able to celebrate many more great victories and titles together here at FC Bayern," said new Bayern chairman Jan-Christian Dreesen.
In September 2019, Laimer made his debut for the Austrian national team and has so far scored twice in 26 caps for his home country.
