WARSAW, May 20 (Xinhua) -- Czech ski cross coach Tomasz Zerebecki on Friday expressed disappointment at his team's performance at Beijing 2022 and confirmed he received an offer from Austria.
As the head coach of the Czech ski cross team since June 2019, Zerebecki led Diana Cholenska to the silver medal of the youth World Championships.
However, Zerebecki admitted that they didn't meet the expectations at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games in a Friday interview with Polish media.
"I must admit that it was a poor performance. Before the Olympics, we lost two athletes due to injury. In Zhangjiakou, Nikol Kucerova performed poorly," the Pole said.
The Czech Ski Association wants Zerebecki to continue his work. If the coach accepts the proposal, his main goal will be preparing the team for the Winter Olympics in 2026.
"I can confirm I received an offer from Austria. I hesitate. For sure, the advantage of working in the Czech Republic would be the guarantee of a contract for four years. However, the offer from Austria also seems very good. It would be a great challenge because there is a strong team there," he said.
